Jan Mark died in 2006. She was a regular tutor and guest reader at Tŷ Newydd from the very early years of the centre. She was an inspirational teacher and many writers credit her guidance and support at a crucial stage of their development for their subsequent success.

We know that Tŷ Newydd was very important to Jan and she believed in its ability to nurture young or up-and-coming talent. A bursary in her memory seems a fitting way to remember her and to celebrate her work.

Bursary recipients will be selected by a panel and will be unpublished but considered to have a writing talent that would benefit from a course at Tŷ Newydd. The bursary will cover the full fee for the course but not travel expenses.

To be considered for a Jan Mark Memorial Bursary please fill in the form below and send to Tŷ Newydd with a selection of your writing (no more than 10 pages) and a short explanation of your writing history and why you particularly want to do the course (no more than one side of  A4).
N.B. Work will not be returned.
