Gwyl Ty Newydd Festival
PROGRAMME

Funded by Academi
This is the first festival since the National Writers’ Centre for Wales re-opened after its renovation and refurbishment and this year it is being held in the summer. So we are taking advantage of our fantastic location and offer you the opportunity to enjoy the countryside around Ty Newydd with guided walks, to visit the village of Portmeirion and to spend a family afternoon in the gardens of Ty Newydd itself. There will be food, music and art but most of all there will be words; words by poets, novelists, journalists and politicians and the opportunity for all ages to enjoy them – from stories told by the puppets of Cwmni Cortyn to the poetry of Carol Ann Duffy and Mererid Hopwood. And there is even a party, as we celebrate Gillian
Clarke’s 70th birthday.
