This is a course for new and fresh talent looking for direction, inspiration and sound advice.  In workshops, tutorials and group work, we will look at poetry and prose, drafting and redrafting, developing a voice and creating, polishing and developing work in either genre. This is an ideal course for students of Creative Writing and younger writers looking for new approaches and sympathetic audiences.

JAMES FRIEL's
most recent novel, The Higher Realm, won the 2006 Ilura Press Fiction Quest. His work has appeared in Blithe House Quarterly, Etchings, Pretext, Pool 1&2, Boomerang, The Writers' Workbook, Time Out, Harpers & Queen, Fable, The Universe and Cercles as well as BBC Radio 3 and 4.

CLARE SHAW
is a poet, performer and workshop facilitator. Her work has been widely anthologised and her first collection of poems is Straight Ahead, published by Bloodaxe in 2006. Clare has a passionate interest in mental health and is the co-director of harm-ed, the self-harm training partnership.
