WRITER-IN-RESIDENCE
November 3-8 • with Kate Thompson
This is not a course. It is the opportunity to be at Tŷ Newydd, in order to write, in the company of Kate Thompson, who will be available throughout the week to discuss and help with work in progress. Numbers will be limited.
KATE THOMPSON
Kate Thompson has published twelve novels for children and three for adults. The New Policeman, published in 2005, won the Whitbread, Guardian and Dublin Airport Authority childrens' book awards, as well as the CBI Bisto award, which she has won a total of four times. Her latest young adult novel, Creature of the Night will be published in June 2008, followed in October by a book for younger readers, Highway Robbery. www.katethompson.info (Photograph curtesy of Random House Children's Books.)
Course details
You may send in work in advance; a brief synopsis of novel and a representative chapter or chapters. (2,500 – 3,000words).
This must arrive at Tŷ Newydd by October 25th.
Please keep a copy of your work.

4- 7 p.m. Arrive at Tŷ Newydd
7 p.m. Evening meal
8.30 p.m. Introductory session. Participants talk about their work in hand Tuesday
2 p.m. Group session – participants share work in progress
7 p.m. Evening meal
8.30 p.m. Reading of her work by Kate Thompson Wednesday
2 p.m. onwards Individual tutorials (about ½ hour each)
7 p.m. Evening meal Thursday
2 p.m.Group session
7 p.m. Evening meal Friday
2 p.m. onwards Individual tutorials (about ½ hour each)
7 p.m. Evening meal
8.30 p.m. Reading of participants’ work Saturday
Leave by 10am
All mornings will be free for writing. Group sessions and tutorials are optional.
