Course 13

BREATHING IN: Prose and Poetry
August 30 - September 4 Menna Elfyn
and Pamela Petro
Guest: Jan Morris

Residential: £525 (single); £450 (shared)

What inspires us to write in the first place? Inspiration is the elusive spark that ignites every poem, essay, article, and full-length manuscript. In this course we'll look at the varied sources of writerly inspiration: memories, chance encounters, anecdotes, jokes, dreams, spells, travel, the particularities of place, even the visual arts. How do we translate inspiring images to words on the page? How do we mine the beauty of landscape with our pens? With these questions as guides each participant will embark on a literary adventure, with course leaders navigating the tricky terrain between the writer's inspiration and his or her destination.

Inspiration also means "to breathe in." Come to Ty Newydd to take a deep breath, to be inspired, to inspire others and conspire with them, and finally, to crack open "inspiration" once and for all and discover the stories within.
