Course 2

ACTIVE THEATRE
March 28 - April 1 (Monday to Friday) David Britton
and Philip Mackenzie

Residential: £400 (single); £325 (shared)

How do we create scripts which encourage and embrace the possibilities of energized theatrical performance? How do we grow a written text from a performance idea? How do we develop theatrical metaphor from words and movement?

This new course from two of Wales’s foremost theatre practitioners gives participants the opportunity to experience what happens when explosive and original  ideas  meet disciplined form and practice. It  is aimed at current and emerging theatre workers  and bold enthusiasts with an interest in exploring the collaborative possibilities of modern theatre.  Among others, it would suit writers, actors, dancers, designers and  teachers.

Philip Mackenzie and David  Britton both began their careers in Australia, before moving to Wales. They have worked together in developing a series of  unconventional works for  Sherman Cymru’s youth theatre, including Bob’s Dance Hall, Gospel, and as the Sherman’s last show before closing for refurbishment, the large –scale promenade performance  piece Oedipus/Antigone.

In partnership with the Drama Association of Wales.  www.dramawales.org.uk
