WRITING FOR PERFORMANCE Full
October 26-31• Kaite O'Reilly with Jenny Sealey and Phillip Zarrilli
Guest: John E. McGrath, Artistic Director, National Theatre of Wales
Residential: £495 (single); £435 (shared)
An unusual residency and a rare opportunity to work with a selection of innovative directors, dramaturgs and writers, exploring different starting points, approaches and aesthetics when writing for performance. A writer's work can take different forms, concerns, processes and structures. The week will feature guest practitioners leading a range of practical one day workshops and evening talks on trigger points to creating raw materials, often working in new or non-traditional ways. Kaite O'Reilly, who has worked as writer/dramaturg with all the guest directors, will be the continuum, pulling out links, relating and adapting techniques for participants’ use in their own practice. There will be the opportunity to seed and make new short work both individually and in groups. Examples of practice and video screenings will be shown and scripts will be available.
