Philip Barnes as Bertolt Brecht is previous production
Residential Weekend at Tŷ Newydd, National Writers’ Centre for Wales
Writing workshops, theatre visit and stay at Tŷ Newydd, Lloyd George’s last home.

Workshops with Sue Pomeroy, director of the drama documentary, I Bertolt Brecht
Explore Brecht’s ‘Epic Theatre’ approach and how this impacts on the writer and his/her vision. Look at the communication methods Brecht used to connect with his audience, and what this means to the writer of today. Examine the perspectives Brecht brought to his writing, and why his approach changed the landscape of literature and drama and continues to exert enormous influence today.
Brecht’s liberating approach to creating drama is legendary and Sue Pomeroy has developed a series of inspiring workshops which unlock the potential and share the secrets of this great twentieth century dramatist. The workshops focus on how an understanding of Brecht’s work can enrich and improve our own writing with a structured programme of three sessions, which cover practical work, discussion and exploration of his techniques.
Final performance of I Bertolt Brecht, at Venue Cymru, Llandudno
Kim Durham as Bertolt Brecht in previous production.
With unique insight gained through first-hand experience of working with Brecht’s company, the Berliner Ensemble, and his close collaborators, Sue Pomeroy has devised this delightful and challenging two hour drama documentary. Using Brecht’s own words, his ideas and theories are explained and made accessible. Through the immediacy of live performance, and the expert selection of letters, plays, poems, essays and songs, Brecht the man and the dramatist come to life. We will travel to Llandudno to see the last performance at Venue Cymru where there will be an opportunity to meet some of the company and cast. www.fuschiafilms.com www.venuecymru.co.uk
